
Charlotte restored its support for the Interstate 77 South toll lane project on Monday, caving to a pressure campaign from state lawmakers despite lingering concerns. The City Council voted 7-4 during a raucous meeting to reverse its previous stance against the project and direct the city’s delegate on the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization to vote in favor.
